Summary
The research and application of epoxy resin in China started from 1950s, and there are hundreds of enterprises that produce epoxy resin and the raw materials thereof. However, as to the special epoxy resin used for the manufacture of wind turbine blade, the present research level in China is far behind the international advanced technology. Nowadays, few of the domestic epoxy enterprises can produce high quality epoxy resin used for wind turbine blade, and this is in part because of the late beginning and unsound mechanism of China wind energy industry.
In recent years, the supply of wind turbine blade epoxy resin keeps falling short of demand. High quality wind turbine blade epoxy resin made by foreign companies is usually the favourite for Chinese wind turbine blade manufacturers, and the home made resin has not been used on a large scale. Although the price of the resin made by foreign companies is higher, the Chinese wind turbine blade manufacturers usually have no option but to buy them, because the quality stability of home made products can not be completely trusted.
It is now recognized that the wind turbine blade epoxy resin industry in China has stepped in a golden period, and this period will last at least 5-8 years. The competition at present is not intense, thus, relevant enterprises and investors should enter this industry as soon as possible, in order to obtain steady market share in the near future.
