Due to diversified market demands, the price gap between different MPV models has been widening. Low-end MPV models become popular. For MPVs that cost less than RMB 150,000, it took 63.7% market share in 2010.
The real beneficiary behind low-end MPV’s popularity is Chinese own brands because most low-end models are from domestic brands. There were 7 domestic models in 2010 top 10 sales list. It can be seen from figure 3 the market share held by Chinese brands keeps increasing, reaching 60.6% in 2010.Data

With the automotive market and consumer attitudes become mature, MPV is not just for commercial use. More and more people want to buy MPVs to meet their business, personal or family use. For enterprises, MPV still has huge development potential in the future, low-end MPVs in particular.
